tax day.

Tax day is Monday! And if you are among the 25 percent of Americans who wait until the last 2 weeks to file, you might be sitting down to complete your return this weekend. Whether you’re crashing the federal deadline or you filed your taxes as soon as your W-2 hit your mailbox, you probably noticed a lot of changes to your returns this year.

Giving is On the Rise!

One of the biggest changes was a doubling in the standard deduction. Throughout 2018, the nonprofit sector debated whether this change would lead to a decrease in charitable giving.

But when the numbers came in, they showed something that Catholic Charities already knew: our donors are loyal, and they are generous. According to Blackbaud, 2018 charitable giving increased overall across the United States by 1.5 percent over 2017.

Giving is Miraculous

Because of our donors’ giving spirit, we want you to know that YOU ARE THE MIRACLE that responds to our clients in crisis, brings them stability and advocates for them in hope. Our donors transform lives in Eastern Washington!

It doesn’t take much to be the miracle for a Catholic Charities client.

  • A gift of $50 provides breakfast oatmeal for an entire week at the House of Charity, allowing our most vulnerable neighbors the chance to start their day with a full stomach.

  • A gift of $90 houses a family for a night at St. Margaret’s Shelter, making it possible for families without a home to catch their breath and make a plan for the future.

  • A gift of $100 provides 10 weeks of CAPA Music Together classes for two families, who can give their children the musical enrichment that lays the foundation for future learning.

  • A gift of $500 provides one-on-one parenting coaching for a family in a Catholic Charities shelter, helping the family build bonds that help break the cycle of intergenerational poverty.

Giving is Easy

And it doesn’t take much to make a gift.

  • You can make a one-time or recurring donation online in recognition of someone’s life or to honor a loved one’s special occasion.

  • We also partner with local businesses who match gifts from their employees. Contact Tanya Arold to see if your company is on the list.

  • You can also be part of the First 100, a special community of those who have placed Catholic Charities or the Catholic Charities Foundation in their will and gift intentions. You can help support the future of those in need who are served by Catholic Charities and leave a lasting legacy.

Contact our Development team members, Ann Marie Byrd or Stacie Eckert, or call (509) 358-4266 for more information.

Thank you for your support of Catholic Charities’ clients! You are the miracle!
